1. How do I schedule an appointment?
Call (336) 308-9008 or email email@example.com to schedule a free 15 minute Meet and Greet with Dr. Torres to learn more about the practice. Or just click the "Request Appointment" Button at the top of this page to schedule yourself!
2. How much do appointments cost?
Initial appointments last 60-90 min and cost $270. Follow-up appointments last 30 min and cost $91. Follow-up appointments are needed every 3 months for the first year of hormone therapy and every 6-12 months thereafter.
3. Do you accept insurance?
No. Full payment is due at the time of service. We can provide you with a superbill you may submit to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you for an out-of-network visit.
4. Why don't you accept insurance?
Not accepting insurance cuts down significantly on cost, paperwork, and staffing needs. It allows Dr. Torres to spend all of her time talking to patients during relaxed appointments, making sure all of their questions are answered.
5. I live outside of North Carolina. Can I still schedule an appointment?
Unfortunately, we are currently only licensed in the state of North Carolina.
6. Will I need lab work?
Yes, standard lab work is required with each visit to check hormone levels and monitor for side effects. Your labs can be drawn at a local lab near you. We have negotiated very affordable rates for standard labs for our patients.
7. Do I need a referral from a mental health professional to receive a prescription for hormones?
No. Dr. Torres uses the informed consent model. This means she will discuss the risks and benefits of hormone therapy together with you, and you will decide together if gender-affirming hormone therapy is right for you. Dr. Torres does NOT believe that being transgender, gender expansive, or gender non-conforming is a disease.
8. Do you treat pediatric patients?
Unfortunately we are not able to see patients under the age of 18 at this time.
9. Can you help me change my legal documents to accurately reflect my gender?
Of course. This can be handled during your visit.
